Admissions to Early Years Education Programs

The Hand In Hand Preschool and Kindergarten provide English instructive early years education and care to children of all nationalities, religions, languages and family backgrounds. Our school year begins in early September and ends in June, and is divided into three terms. Admission is based on space availability. A child may enroll at any time during the school year, and entry is not limited to the beginning of a term or any given month.

 

General Admissions Requirements

1. Children enrolling in Preschool and Kindergarten must be fully toilet-trained. This is not a requirement for children enrolling in Early Preschool.

2. Immunization must be up to date. Exemption is granted to a child with medical or religious reasons.

3. A child must be physically and behaviorally capable to safely participate in all activities prepared at HIH.

4. A child’s special needs and health issues must be fully disclosed and described in detail on the application form.

Admissions Process

Step 1: APPLY

Once you have decided that Hand In Hand is a good fit for your family, please submit the ONLINE APPLICATION. A one-time, non-refundable 10,000 yen application fee is paid at this time, or please enter a fee waiver code if you have one. When you complete and submit the online form, you will be redirected to the secure payment environment of the PayPal website. You may pay by credit card or with your PayPal account if you have one.

 

Step 2: ACCEPT

After your application has been reviewed and processed, we will reach out to you within a week to provide you with additional materials required for enrollment. Families who choose to accept admission must return a signed enrollment agreement paid with a non-refundable registration fee and a placement tuition deposit.

 

Step 3: ENROLL

Step 1 and 2 completes enrollment. Tuition and other fees are paid according to the published payment deadline, or upon acceptance for any admission past the payment deadline.

Other Fees

Registration Fee¥200,000One-time fee due within one week from acceptance to school, or prior to student’s first day.

Financial Regulations

Payment Options & Schedules

OPTION A - One Payment Plan
Submit one payment for full annual tuition in advance. 2% tuition discount applied for payment due August 10, 2017. Discount will be forfeited if payment is not received by due date.

OPTION B - Term Payment Plan
Payment of tuition per term in three installments: Fall term installment is due on August 10, 2017, Winter term installment is due on December 8, 2017, Spring term installment is due on March 9, 2018.

* For new families applying after the term payment deadlines, initial term installment is made upon acceptance.

Payment Methods

All fees should be paid by bank transfer or with a credit card. Please note that we do not accept cash payments. Payers are responsible for any fees, charges, deductions, or currency exchanges that may be removed from payments before they are received by HIH.

Bank Transfer – Remit to: Hand In Hand – CDC, Bank of Yokohama, Ltd. (SWIFT code: HAMAJPJT), Motomachi branch, Ordinary savings account (futsu-yokin) #6025793. Any bank transfer fees charged inside and outside Japan must be included in the total amount remitted.

Credit Card – Online credit card transaction fee of 4% will be applied to total amount due.

Sibling Discount

A family with more than one child enrolled concurrently in Early Preschool, Preschool or Kindergarten at HIH, a 10% sibling discount is applied to the sibling with the lowest tuition fee after any other form of tuition reduction is applied. The discount only applies to tuition and not to any other fees.

Placement Tuition Deposit

Placement tuition deposit of ¥100,000 is due at the time of enrollment/re-enrollment. The deposit is not an additional fee, it will be credited towards the cost of spring term tuition. Any withdrawal during the school year forfeits this deposit.

No-Refund Policy

Tuition and other fees are paid in advance, non-refundable and not prorated.
Attendance for any portion of a term will require full term payment.
